View Full Version : [ShowOff] Noggit Created Map In Cataclysm

Long story short, I started playing around with the idea of porting Custom Maps for the WoTLK client that were made with Noggit over to the later expansions, in my case Cataclysm 4.0.6a since it's all that I've got installed at the moment. I started on February 9th, took a break on the 11th, got a custom map from a user named Bardh from Modcraft( http://modcraft.superparanoid.de/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=8905&view=unread#unread ) yesterday. After a dozen more hours tackling over a lot of shtuff, I got the sucker to render in Cataclysm.

Since I couldn't think of a way to visually prove I was using Cataclysm instead of WoTLK, I spawned some Firehawks since as most people should know, these creatures do not render properly on WoTLK. Anyway without further rambling, here are images:

Credits - Map made by Bardh, I merely ported it over.
PS, It's not like this hasn't been done before, it's just not widely covered.

I didn't make it, I just upconverted it from wotlk to cataclysm was all. But if you mean in that regard, then thankyou :), given the first time it finally rendered without crashing the client, the tiles were all very patchy:

The main reason why I'm doing this is for some of my friends that have spent a few months to years building some maps with Noggit and have wanted to bring them over to cataclysm but couldn't before because there weren't any tools to do so. So I'm trying to help them out by doing this.

I agree, I'm glad the guy lent me his map data for my research :) Pain in my ass I tell ya! XD, but mainly it's because I'm not a programmer or anything so I don't have the type of mindset for handling these types of things very well. heh.
