Of course there is never that one editor that beats them all, but I personally like this one very much. It has a great UI look and feel to it, very easy to setup and get going, and has tons of plugins available to add more features.

As the title states, it is for web development, but surely can be used as a simple text editor, but it's obviously not built for that. It has a "Live Development" feature that will display the new webpage whenever the html/css/js is valid. I've also used PHP and have it update whenever you save the file. This is extremely useful to have it updating as you're typing to see the changes you're making as you go rather than having to switch over to the browser and refresh the page everytime you want to see your result.

Anyhow, I think if you're doing some simple web stuff one day, definitely give this a try and see how you like it!
